Deceitful, unethical, unprofessional. Shall I go on? They prey on innocent people and take advantage of their downfalls. They will take every cent if given the chance...even your house! Do NOT trust them. I would never ever recommend them to anyone. Go elsewhere and contact me if you want to hear my story.

I have been dealing with Nicholls & Co for over 12 months. All my questions at the start of the BR process were quickly and accurately answered. They have been extremely courteous, knowledgeable and patient. I continue to make regular income contributions as per the legislation and Nicholls & Co have made this process very easy and stress free. I have found it easy to be open, honest, communicative and to provide the information they need, because Nicholls & Coo have been so understanding and responsive. I can highly recommend them to anyone who has to go through the BR process

After speaking to my Accountant and seconded by another, I was recommended to contact Nicholls and Co and declare bankrupt. While I never thought I would be in this position I was very concerned about how I was going to be treated by the public, a Trustee and/or by previous debtors. The big surprise is that Nicholls and Co. have been incredibly helpful and supportive. They display empathy to my situation and have assisted me get through this with guidance in everything that I have asked, from travel restrictions and conditions, family member additions, car purchases and any wages I have earned. I always get a fast response on any inquiries I make. I also do not have debt collectors stressing me out anymore (Nicholls and Co look after them).

Although I never expected to be in this position, I am glad I declared bankrupt and used Nicholls and Co. as I am finally moving forward and getting on with my life! If you are considering using Nicholls and Co. I strongly recommend them. They have become the assistance I have needed while I am going through this process.

I was in business for over 12 years and a mall closure in Townsville, slowed foot traffic into the business and put me deep into the red. Rent fell behind along with many other bills and finally the landlord decided to close the doors on me. I went back to work to try to pay the bills but I could't keep up and the debt collectors were crawling all over me, daily.

I would never be able to recommend these people to deal with, I was blatantly lied to my face, misled and stuffed me around for years, one of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I only gave 1 star as there was no option to give a minus figure.

Hi Sarah, I was saddened by your review comments as I have had the complete opposite of your seemingly bad experience. I am not just some friendly to Nicholls & Co. reviewer as I am six months into my bankruptcy and would be glad to correspond with you about my positive experience. As a qualified Accountant in my late fifties I did some serious research into Trustee’s as I knew that a bad Trustee could adversely affect the bankruptcy process. As an Accountant I made some well-intended business decisions which through no fault of my own led to a desperate financial position. The venture that I went into prior to me being declared bankrupt through Nicholls & Co. went south along with the entire mining boom economy in Western Australia. Credit card debt piled up to unmanageable levels as I tried to survive one disaster after another and keep a roof over my head, my family home. I guess that we all have similar reasons for going into bankruptcy so I won’t bore you with me woeful details. On to Nicholls & Co. then and yes my financial condition was that bad that I wasn’t even sure whether Nicholls & Co. would take me on as a client, but they did help where other bankruptcy lawyers turned me down. I was issued with a bankruptcy reference number and had wonderful dealings without exception from the lowest to the most senior members of staff at Nicholls & Co. I was not treated as a leper (which is how some bankrupt individuals feel) and the process and procedures were fully explained to me in a very ethical and professional manner. When it came to my house I was asked whether I wanted to keep it which I did as being homeless was not that appealing to me. Probably as with you, a valuation was done on the house and the Trustee lodged a caveat against the property. However Nicholls & Co. reassured me and fully that I would be able to keep the house with some minimal conditions and then explained to me my other legal rights (car and furniture) as a bankrupt person. To date I have not paid a cent to Nicholls & Co. and to top it all I was even offered terms of three years to repay them. I have been sleeping well and I have no more life threatening stress as Nicholls & Co. guides me out of being between a rock and a hard place. Nicholls & Co. ethics have been beyond reproach and highly professional in their staff and senior management to date. I would be lying if I said that the process of going bankrupt with Nicholls & Co. was not initially stressful. However sometimes I have (probably as you have had) unrealistic expectations about what a Trustee can or cannot do in order to keep their licence to practice. For example I sometimes want to ask my accountants how much 2 + 2 to equals hoping that they will reply how much you want it to be. Bankruptcy Accountants and Trustees have a fiduciary responsibility to their Clients, Creditors whom we Clients owe money to, their Governing Body AFSA a Government controlling entity and as a Trustee being a Chartered Accountant to CPA Australia. These Trustees can and have done jail time for illegally aiding and abetting Clients, Creditors, APRA or the Australian Taxation Office. Also they can lose their licence to practice as a CPA. Than is walking a fine line if ever I saw one, being a Bankruptcy Accountant. I Lastly Sarah, I would sincerely like for you to contact me, a bankrupt 50 year old undergraduate Accountant just to get things off your chest and have a sounding board or venting person to help you through this frustrating time. Definitely a five star rating to Nicholls & Co. as in my humble opinion they would be as safe to a bankrupt client in service, ethics and professionalism as flying with Qantas. Kind regards to Sarah and Nicholls & Co. John from Perth WA.
